I'm not a big fan of Google+, as I have written about previously, but I have tried the Android app several times. On my Vodafone HTC Desire, running Android 2.2, there is one bug and one interface issue which together make the compose post screen a bit clunky.

The bug is that the phone's GPS is constantly on when composing a post with the Google+ Android app, even if you select a location or choose the 'hide location' option. There is no global setting to turn location on or off, so I'm stuck with a phone constantly scanning for a location when composing an update. Other users don't seem to have this problem, so it may be specific to the HTC Desire and/or Vodafone. I have reported the issue to Google via the feedback link on Google+.

The interface issue relates to the on screen virtual keyboard and the 'attach photos' menu bar. As can be seen from the screenshot below, the keyboard totally obscures the photos bar, as well as partially covering the location menu. This seems a bit of a mess when compared to the Twitter for Android compose tweet screen, for instance, where the tweet box, virtual keyboard, location button and add photos buttons are all neatly arranged.

A couple of tweaks to these issues would make composing a post with Google+ on Android that little bit better.
