To the Medieval mind the Universe was contained within a compact sphere, with the Earth at the center and the Heavens above.
To modern man the Earth lurks in an insignificant corner of a massive galaxy, of which there are billions more, all contained within an unimaginably huge Universe.
How shocking it would be to the Medieval mind to be confronted with modern Cosmology, and how disorientating it would be for modern man to discover that we are, indeed, contained within a finite crystal sphere.
