The Internet isn't easy to use, despite all the efforts of software companies to simplify it. The web is complicated by its very nature and using it can be fraught with problems. These problems can be highlighted when you're using an instant online messaging service such as Twitter. Make a mistake and hundreds of people will see it. Instantly. There wasn't a word or phrase for this phenomenon, so I've invented a new one. Yes, yes I have, you can't stop me. 'Twonk'. There, there it is, as defined below:

Twonk - noun. A mistake made in the usage of Twitter.

Here are some of the variations I've come up with:

Auto-twonk - noun. A tweet containing words incorrectly auto-suggested by a virtual keyboard.

Career-twonk - noun. An offensive tweet posted from the poster's employer's account.

Schizo-twonk - noun. A tweet sent from the wrong account when using multiple accounts.

Ghost-twonk - noun. A tweet sent while accidentally logged in as another user, e.g. when using a shared computer.

Bot-twonk - noun. A tweet accidentally posted from an automated tweeting service.

Double-twonk - noun. A tweet accidentally posted multiple times.

Semantic-twonk - noun. A tweet with a meaning subtly different from that intended by the poster, usually caused by grammatical errors.

Mis-twonk - noun. A misconception or misunderstanding of a tweet.

Grocer's twonk - noun. A tweet with incorrect spelling or punctuation.

Alcho-twonk - noun. An inappropriate tweet posted whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Link-twonk - noun. A tweet containing an incorrect URL.

Reply-twonk - verb. To accidentally reply to the wrong Twitter user.

Twonker - noun. One who twonks.

Face-twonk - verb. To accidentally post a tweet to Facebook or a Facebook update to Twitter.

Kiddie-twonk - noun. A tweet sent by a small child randomly hitting an unattended smartphone/laptop/iPod etc.

Cat-twonk - noun. A tweet sent by a cat walking across a computer keyboard.
